Meeting with Shikshan Mitra in PMC and Chikhli Area

A meeting was organized with Shikshan Mitra in the PMC and Chikhli area that we are going to phase out from. The meeting took place on 27th June and was attended by 9 Shikshan Mitra. DSS founder Mrs. Rajani Paranjape, Associate Director, Ms. Ankita Yadav, and 3 other staff members were also present for this meeting.

During this meeting, we appreciated the efforts of Shikshan Mitra. As DSS staff would no longer be working in that area, the responsibilities of Shikshan Mitra would change. Their changed role was discussed in the meeting.

The Shikshan Mitra assured us that they would continue working for the education of students who are out of school.

Agriculture Project at Kumar Prospera Site

At the Kumar Prospera construction site, we organized a project activity for children, wherein they learned the basics of agriculture.

In a certain area designated for this project, the kids prepared soil for planting, sowed seeds, watered the plants, and observed them grow.

This way, the students gained hands-on experience in agriculture and got to know the basic steps in farming, such as soil preparation, sowing seeds, watering, and adding fertilizers.

We thank Kumar Developers for their support in making this agriculture project successful.

Planting Trees: Volunteer Activity for DSS students

On the occasion of World Environment Day, volunteers conducted an online activity for kids where they were told about the importance of trees and were given information about garbage segregation.

The volunteers then told the children that everyone should plant at least one tree. Listening to this, all the kids planted a tree each by afternoon and wrote about that tree.

Thus, the importance of planting trees and proper garbage disposal was effectively conveyed to the students.

Classes for 11th Grade students by DLRC

With the initiative by DLRC, we have started extra coaching classes for 11th standard students from science side, who are interested in higher education.

11 such students from Dhayarigaav Chavan College have been selected.

Pavan Sir took their first class on May 16. He asked the students their learning interests, then told them about the work of DLRC. He asked if any of them would be giving the NEET exam, for which 4 students said yes. So Pavan Sir started taking different classes for them, but they eventually opted out.

Currently, Pavan Sir takes coaching classes for 11 students, initially selected. The classes are conducted every Monday, from 6 to 7 pm. 3 classes have been conducted till now.

In the first class, students introduced themselves, were informed about DLRC and some Maths was taken.

In the second class, the lemon and water experiment was conducted and observations were discussed.

In the next class the experiment of putting pebbles in water and measuring the changing water level, was conducted.

Students are liking these classes. The college science teacher and principal are also present for these classes.

After every class, Pavan Sir urges the students to write what they have understood, conduct experiments and send him photos and videos of the same. He gives the students homework and students complete it with interest.

Pavan Sir always tells the students to ask questions and jokes that his lectures are not like a preaching to be heard. Learning should be interactive and fun.

In this way, 11th standard classes are going good.
